It is also vital not to assume prices for any venue. Larger venues can cost far less than some of the more intimate settings. Furthermore, some locations have hidden costs. Catering
Some party halls and hotel ballrooms allow the use of outside catering. However, many of these venues require that the catering be provided by onsite services or through a dedicated catering service. If a chosen venue requires a specific caterer, it is important to learn what the caterer charges and if they provide the type of food that is desired.

Services and Entertainment
Events are remembered largely for the food that is served and the entertainment provided. Some venues are chosen for entertainment purposes alone. Birthday parties for children may be held at bowling alleys, skating rinks, or theatres. Fitness clubs and swimming pools often offer party services as well. Older children to adults may enjoy a party or celebration at a comedy club or a pottery studio. Other events, such as anniversary celebrations or even corporate parties may benefit from locations that offer the option of a dance floor or karaoke. In all cases, it is important to know if loud speakers or microphones are needed for toasts or speeches.

Availability
Last minute event planning may require a great deal of flexibility regarding the venue. It is important to plan events as soon as possible, as many locations are booked weeks and even months in advance. For last minute plans, some may choose an outdoor venue, as these generally allow for outside catering services. They also usually do not have limitations on space.
